Cylib

Cylib

Dormagen, Germany
Posted on Feb 26, 2026
Your mission

We are building our first large-scale recycling plant for lithium-ion batteries at our site in Dormagen, scaling our technology into industrial operations for the first time. As Plant Director (m/f/d), you are responsible for the setup, ramp-up and operations of the site – and in doing so, you take the decisive step with us from technology to real industry.

  • You own the site from the construction phase through commissioning and into stable operations, consistently ensuring high HSE, quality and efficiency standards while embedding a lived safety culture across the plant.
  • You steer and optimize production processes and ensure that we meet all regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • You build a high-performing organization, develop your people and create a working culture where safety, quality and collaboration are lived.
  • You actively shape the interfaces between the site and our corporate functions and contribute to key governance bodies, including the Operations Leadership Team and the cylib Leadership Team.
  • You represent the site internally and externally – with authorities, political stakeholders, regional partners and media.
  • You work closely with our Commercial Team to ensure optimal plant utilization and to build a regional value chain.
Your profile
  • You hold a degree in engineering, ideally with a focus on chemistry, process engineering or metallurgy.
  • You bring 10–15 years of experience in senior operations or plant management roles, preferably in the chemical, process or manufacturing industry.
  • You have already been responsible for the setup and ramp-up of industrial production facilities and know what it takes to bring a plant successfully into operation.
  • You are well-versed in HSE, quality and process management – you don't just live these standards yourself, you embed them in your organization and make them a reality on the shop floor.
  • You have experience working with employee representatives and authorities and bring the necessary sensitivity to align diverse interests and move forward together.
  • You lead with clarity and commitment, provide direction and create an environment where people want to take ownership and grow.
  • You combine strategic thinking with a strong drive to execute – turning plans into reality is what motivates you.
  • You communicate confidently in German and English and navigate intercultural and interdisciplinary teams with ease.
Why us?
  • You take ownership from day one – after an intensive onboarding, you'll build something unique with us and shape outcomes with real impact on results.
  • You work on something that truly matters – with your contribution, you strengthen Europe's battery supply chains and make circular economy a reality on an industrial scale.
  • You're part of a mission-driven team – in a fast-paced scale-up environment, we live collaboration, because we can only move things forward together.
  • You work to the highest standards – we combine the professionalism of leading industry with the innovative power of a top-tier, research-driven technology team.
  • You grow with us – at cylib, you will do what is likely to be the most impactful work of your career and develop personally as we scale together.
About us
cylib is a research-based German scaleup for holistic battery recycling - starting from discharging to recovery of all components of the lithium battery - that was founded in Aachen in 2022 by three visionary founders, including a female CEO.

Our process

The cylib process offers a complete end-to-end process from battery pack to green battery material by employing a combination of mechanical and thermal pre-treatments and an innovative water-based lithium and graphite recovery. Unlike incumbents, cylib can therefore recover battery materials such as lithium, graphite or manganese. The process was developed over several years of research at the renown RWTH Aachen University and offers an efficient, resource- and climate friendly recovery of all battery materials from end-of-life batteries.

cylib's technology enables the recovery of all battery components regardless of whether it is an end-of-life battery or not. Recovery of green secondary raw materials from the cylib process enables the realization of the true Circular Economy on the European market.
