About Wayflyer
Our mission is to give the world access to the best products by empowering great brands to reach their growth potential.
Today's consumer brands need a capital provider that keeps pace with their growth ambitions. Traditional financing options are slow, cumbersome and often out of reach. That's why we built Wayflyer.
Our unique technology allows us to assess businesses in minutes, generate financing offers that reflect their growth potential and send funds in as little as 24 hours.
Since launching in April 2020, we've deployed over $4.5bn to thousands of brands worldwide, backed by Tier 1 banks like J.P. Morgan. We've become a trusted financing partner for some amazing brands, like True Classic, Little Words Project and Kekoa Foods.
Teams at Wayflyer are truly cross-functional. You'll be collaborating with ambitious colleagues from around the world - all striving to deliver on a huge opportunity. Check out this video to hear directly from them.
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and flexible Finance lawyer to join Wayflyer's Legal team. As a FinTech company, this role will be critical and impactful, supporting internal teams, working with third parties, and providing day-to-day and strategic advice on a broad range of legal matters.
What will you do
Collaborate with business stakeholders on legal considerations associated with launching new products, mitigating risk in a way appropriate to Wayflyer’s business and making enhancements to our existing products.
Day to day support to internal teams on issues affecting and queries on our financial products.
Managing and tracking changes in laws and impacts on our products as a result of such changes.
Manage external counsel in multiple jurisdictions (primarily US and Europe as well as other jurisdictions relevant to our business) where required to ensure timely and expert support.
Work with our capital markets team on various finance and debt capital market transactions and security arrangements.
Ensure our contractual templates, playbooks and other standard terms are kept up to date.
Assist with obtaining, managing and maintaining regulatory authorisations and/or partnerships in our markets.
You will also have the opportunity to work on other general commercial matters, such as complex commercial contracts and data protection matters.
Knowledge, skills and experience
You are an Irish or UK qualified lawyer.
You have 4 - 6 years experience working as a lawyer either in practice or in-house, with experience in financial, financial regulation, debt financial and/or banking matters
You are able to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to drive efficiencies in transaction processes.
You have a strong commercial acumen, can work autonomously without the need for significant guidance or input and can make risk based decisions, seeking appropriate guidance and input at appropriate junctures.
You can work with a variety of business stakeholders (including C-level executives) and understand their needs, partnering collaboratively with them to find creative solutions.
You have a creative mindset, rarely or never saying “no” but rather saying “let’s try this instead”
You have high energy and enthusiasm for how the legal department can bring value to the business and help it resolve some of its hardest problems.
You can work at pace and deal effectively with ambiguity.
What is important to point out is that you can do most or all of the above mentioned and can point to your real experience doing it. You’ve probably done it at companies of different shapes, sizes and industries. Given what we do, experience in financial services, fintech and business-to-business organisations is particularly interesting to us.
On top of that, you’re amazing at prioritisation. You make sure you’re not spread too thin while also giving teams the support they need. You spend your time on the things that make a positive difference. People get why you’ve chosen to say ‘yes’, ‘no’, or ‘not yet’, and are ok with it.
What you’re like as a person and how you treat people is a big deal for us. People love working with you. You’re helpful and generous with your time and knowledge. People love helping you back. People know where they stand with you.
You’re always looking to learn and grow, on a personal and professional level. And you’re always looking to help others learn and grow by sharing your own knowledge and experience.
You know why diversity, equality, inclusion and belonging matters, and speak up when we can do better.
