We are hiring here at Upvest come and join the growing team!
We’re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow. We’re building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution to offer a broad range of investment products in their apps. Our view is backed by Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) by renowned fintech entrepreneurs (including Maximilian Tayenthal, founder of N26, and Felix Haas, founder of IDnow) and Bessemer Venture Partners in the USA.
We’re based in Berlin but would consider hiring remotely for this role. If you do want to move to Berlin though, we’re happy to support your relocation.
At Upvest, our vision is to make investing as easy as spending money. By enabling any business to offer investment opportunities, our goal is to empower anyone to invest. Today, we count 150+ talented people from 30 different countries.
Team's mission
Develop, own and purposefully improve the custom-built shared services and libraries in Upvest’s Investment API that enable domain teams to deliver their services. Improve Engineering Productivity through purpose-built tooling and accompanying processes.
We are an internally-focused team. All Upvest engineers are our customers, their experience is our goal. You will work on products that are part of the core infrastructure of our API, including:
- Auth*: Proper authentication and authorisation is vital for a financial product, we provide a flexible tenant-based solution
- Webhooks: Our customers can subscribe to events, domain teams can plug-in to fire events, it's a product with interesting challenges in terms of load management and handling external downstream dependencies
- CI/CD: Besides the obvious, this product also handles regulatory obligations Upvest must fulfill and has high impact on the overall efficiency of the engineering department
It's a diverse set of responsibilities which keeps our daily work-life engaging. The team is open to new challenges and always eager to learn and grow. We are planning to expand our responsibilities due to the crucial role Engineering Enablement plays in improving the lives of engineers at Upvest.
This role will give you the opportunity to:
- Design and build fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable systems using Microservice architecture powered by Docker, Kubernetes, LinkerD service mesh, and Kong as a Gateway
- Work on products backed by a diverse set of technologies covering http and gRPC APIs, event driven applications powered by Kafka, but also plug-ins and libraries
- Work on improving the reliability of our API tools and develop innovative new tools
- Work with an agile methodology with flexible processes
- Work with cutting-edge technologies (Go is the primary language) without a legacy codebase
- Learn what it is like to work in a growing FinTech startup
Job requirements:
- Product mindset and interest to build for engineers
- Strong communication skills
- You love working on products with high dependability requirements
- Fluency with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL
- Knowledge of Go (or willingness to make Go your day-to-day language)
- Experience with k8s
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with Domain Driven Design
- Data driven development approach with a sense for feedback loops
- Have worked with event-driven architecture, ideally using Kafka
- Experience with auth frameworks and familiarity with OAuth
- Exposure of CI/CD automation, ideally Github Actions.
