About the team

Tide is seeking an exceptional Lead Product Designer to join our Business Services Product team. Business Services covers products that help micro and small businesses manage their receivables, payables, bill payments, expenses, payroll and accounting.

The products in our Business Services suite have achieved product-market fit and are experiencing rapid growth. We're now at an exciting stage where we’re expanding to address new user needs and unlock additional Jobs To Be Done (JTBD). This next phase will focus on broadening the product’s capabilities to deliver even more value to our customers.

About the role

Co-create Product Strategy

  • Collaborate with product managers to develop the product strategy, ensuring design is integral to achieving North Star goals.
  • Partner with engineering, marketing, and research teams to build a cohesive product vision and roadmap.

Leverage the Tide Design System

  • Use the Tide Design System to create seamless, consistent user experiences.
  • Contribute to and challenge the design system where necessary to ensure it evolves with user needs and product growth.

User-Centered Design & Research

  • Engage deeply with our members, whether by joining user research sessions, analyzing usage data, or conducting your own research and synthesis.
  • Apply insights from research and analytics to inform design decisions and ensure designs meet real user needs.

Wireframing & Prototyping

  • Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and user flows to translate product vision into intuitive, impactful designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to iterate on design concepts, incorporating feedback and testing results.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Lead cross-functional design reviews, gather feedback, and align stakeholders on design direction.
  • Communicate design concepts clearly to executives, product teams, and other partners.

Metrics-Driven Experimentation & Iteration

  • Utilize product metrics and data to drive design decisions, ensuring solutions are validated through testing and experimentation.
  • Experiment with A/B testing and other validation methods to ensure continuous improvement and optimization of designs.

What we are looking for

We’re looking for an experienced Product Design Manager (IC) to co-create and execute our product strategy. You will work alongside product managers to help achieve North Star goals through high-quality design solutions, leveraging the Tide Design System to ensure consistent and world-class member experiences. You’ll actively contribute to, and where necessary, challenge and evolve the design system.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for deeply understanding the needs of our members through hands-on research, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and using metrics-driven experimentation to iterate on design solutions.

  • At least 6+ years of experience designing digital products for web and mobile platforms in a product design or UX role.
  • Experience in fintech scale up is a bonus.

  • Led or played a key role in the design of world-class product design in a fast-growing company before.
  • A portfolio or case study that demonstrates great product thinking, user experience, interaction, and visual design skills, a clear process and impact (results)

  • Extensive experience designing complex products and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional peers in product and engineering

  • You are a great storyteller who can clearly paint a compelling picture of the ‘why’ that underpins your work, turning insights into a big picture vision that can inform product strategy

  • You’re impact-driven and are able to be pragmatic about trade offs, striking the balance between going fast and going slow

  • Understanding of end-to-end design process from ideation to launch and ability to collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot any technical issues that arise, ensuring that the product meets performance and quality standards

  • Ability to collaborate with UX Researchers in usability testing and highlight research needs upfront

  • Highly proficient in Figma with high attention to detail

  • Good understanding of Design Systems and A11Y, to ensure consistency, scalability, and inclusivity
