Your challenge:

The Monetization team owns the full subscription lifecycle, payment processing, invoicing, and entitlements infrastructure that underpins Taxfix's revenue. When a customer pays, upgrades, renews, or gets access to a premium feature, that's us. You will lead a cross-functional engineering team that builds and operates these platform capabilities that directly impact conversion, retention, and revenue - while meeting high bars for correctness, auditability, security, and customer trust.

Lead and grow the team

  • Hire, coach, and develop software engineers — run meaningful 1:1s, set development goals, and actively manage performance

  • Build a high-performance team culture rooted in psychological safety, ownership, and continuous improvement

  • Be a multiplier leader who makes others faster through clear, direct communication, coaching, and consistently raising the bar on engineering craft and collaboration

  • Champion AI adoption within the team — encourage AI-assisted workflows and continuously raise the bar on how AI is used to improve productivity

Own delivery and execution

  • Own the team’s outcomes and delivery cadence: define and align on a north-star metric, run lean planning/prioritization, unblock quickly, and drive continuous improvement

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of projects across the monetization stack (e.g., checkout, subscription flows, upgrades/downgrades, dunning, invoicing signals, entitlements)

  • Balance product roadmap work with operational reliability work (incidents, bugs, performance, tech debt)

Drive technical excellence

  • Drive architecture and design decisions that support scalability, reliability, and compliance (auditability, revenue recognition constraints, GDPR)

  • Bring strong platform fundamentals and pragmatic decision-making

  • Ensure strong engineering standards: code quality, testing strategy, CI/CD, observability, and documentation

  • Coach engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and incident retrospectives

  • Partner with platform/security and architecture counterparts to meet org-wide standards and reduce systemic risk

Partner across the business

  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and Data/Analytics to shape strategy, define success metrics, and make pragmatic scope decisions

  • Collaborate with Finance/Accounting on topics like revenue recognition, refunds, and operational controls

  • Collaborate with Customer Support/Operations to reduce manual work and improve self-serve capabilities

Your profile:

Must-have

  • Experience leading and coaching a software engineering team (ideally in a product environment)

  • Strong technical foundation (backend and/or distributed systems) and confidence in system design

  • Track record of delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives and handling ambiguity

  • Experience improving engineering practices: reliability, testing, metrics, and delivery processes

  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience using AI assistants in real work; ability to critically evaluate AI output (know when to trust, edit, or reject); builds AI-assisted workflows for self and team

  • Can articulate the north-star metric being moved and connect team work to business outcomes

  • Raises blockers early, shares context proactively, gives and receives feedback directly

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in fintech, payments, subscriptions, billing, or other regulated domains

  • Privacy & security awareness in high-trust products (GDPR / financial data handling)

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and iterating quickly: ships early, learns from signal, improves continuously
