🚀 About us

We're building the next-generation web search engine for AI. Our infrastructure runs on clusters of 1,000+ machines, processing petabytes of data and powering large-scale retrieval for production AI workloads.
We've raised a top notch seed round from leading US and European investors. Our team is composed of the top 0.1% of talent in the field: PhD researchers and engineers from Amazon Alexa and leading research labs, ex-MBB consultants, and operators from venture-backed startups. We hire only people who can be the best in the world at what they do.
We're already in production with design-partner customers across enterprise search, AI research, and vertical AI applications. The opportunity is enormous. The bar is high. If you want to define a category, this is the place.

🎯 The role

We're hiring our first Head of Product. You will own the product function: what we build, in what order, and why. You report to the CEO and work mostly with the CTO, the Head of Revenue, and the Chief of Staff.
This is an individual contributor role with function ownership. You will not inherit a team. You own the API surface, the Console, docs, SDKs, MCP integration, and the roadmap for our data verticals. You will be the first person in this function, you will define how it works, and you will build it out as the company earns it.
We are very early, and the work reflects it: customer discovery, prioritization, and shipping, not roadmap slides. You will be in live deals alongside our Head of Revenue, sit in customer and design-partner calls, and what you ship is judged on whether it helps close and expand accounts.
We are looking for someone who knows this space cold. Search, retrieval, and AI infrastructure are crowded, technical markets. You need to walk in already fluent in how they work, who builds in them, and what buyers actually pay for.

📋 What you'll own

The product bet. You set the roadmap and you defend it. You own sequencing, scope, and the trade-offs, and you are accountable for the outcome.
The developer and customer experience. API design reviews, Console, documentation, SDKs, and MCP integration. You own the surface area of the product end to end.
Discovery and kill decisions. You ground every roadmap call in design-partner and customer evidence, and you kill what the evidence doesn't support.
From signal to spec. You turn enterprise feedback, win/loss notes, and usage data into prioritized, shippable specs. Engineers build from your writing.
Pricing and commercial partnership. You own the value metric and the packaging alongside our Head of Revenue, and you hold the line on both when deals push back. Feedback from live opportunities flows straight into the roadmap.
Launch quality and instrumentation. Evals, benchmarks, changelogs, and release communication. You define the usage signals that tell us what's working, vertical by vertical, and you close the loop with customers when we ship.
The product function. You define how product works at Seltz and you grow the function as the business earns it, hiring against a bar that raises the team.

👤 Who you are

You have shipped product at a vector database, search, or comparable retrieval or data-infrastructure company. This is a requirement, not a preference.
You have 7+ years in product and you have owned a product's direction, with accountability for the outcome.
You know this sector deeply: the players, the architectures, the benchmarks, and what technical buyers in this market pay for.
You are technical enough to query the API yourself, read code, and argue trade-offs with engineers on the merits.
You have run discovery with technical buyers (engineers, CTOs) and can separate what they say from what they need.
You are ready to be the entire product team before you are the head of one. The first year is hands on keyboard.
You are comfortable operating at a very early stage: ambiguity, thin data, fast iteration, and changing your mind when the evidence says so.
You are based in Europe or the US.

💡 Bonus

You have been the first product hire or Head of Product at an early-stage company and grown the function from one person to a team.
Hands-on experience with LLM applications, agent frameworks, or MCP.
Experience with usage-based or consumption pricing models.
Background in information retrieval or ranking beyond the product role: you've worked directly with relevance, evals, or ranking teams.

🎁 What we offer

Competitive salary and meaningful equity. This is a founding-team hire and the equity reflects it.
You report to the CEO. No layers, no political theater.
Based in Europe or the US.
Comprehensive benefits package, including US health insurance, US 401k, flexible time off and more.
Visa sponsorship for international candidates (e.g., STEM OPT, OPT, H1B, O1, E3).
