Who We’re Looking For
Our start-up culture means high autonomy, no micro-management, and a strong focus on execution and innovation.
Start date: As soon as possible
Key Skills for Success
This role places you at the heart of our company, leading a critical part of our business: identifying, sourcing, and closing deals with carbon project developers (carbon credit suppliers). Building on the foundations laid by Greg, this is an incredible opportunity to take on a leading commercial role within the company while working closely with our product and science teams.
Commercial experience: At least 4 years in business development or sales. Experience structuring sales processes and offers is a plus.
Carbon markets knowledge: A solid understanding of carbon markets, ideally with knowledge of engineered carbon removal projects.
Communication & Leadership: A strong communicator who can align stakeholders and inspire teams. Proven ability to work cross-functionally with business and engineering teams.
Strategic Vision: Ability to align sales priorities with company goals. Experience in gathering and communicating customer feedback to inform company strategy.
Technical Aptitude: Comfortable working in technical environments, understanding scientific concepts, and engaging with engineers.
Language Skills: Fluent in English; German is a plus. Experience working in multicultural environments with international customers.
Responsibilities
Strategic responsibilities:
Define and execute the sourcing strategy for carbon project developers
Shape the commercial offering and processes to scale our carbon project operations
Operational responsibilities:
Identify and close partnerships with carbon project developers
Ensure a good transition from sales to the certification team
Attend industry events and build relationships within the carbon project developer network.
Our Product & Customers
Our Product
We are building a carbon crediting platform for engineered carbon projects, enabling the issuance and traceability of a new generation of high-quality carbon credits.
Our platform consists of two core products:
Certification Platform
Our flagship product, designed to streamline carbon credit issuance for project developers.
It calculates how many carbon credits a project can generate and simplifies the entire certification process, including audits.
Carbon Credit Registry
Ensures transparency and traceability by maintaining detailed records of carbon credits throughout their lifecycle—from issuance to retirement.
Facilitates transactions between buyers, resellers and project developers, speeding up settlements and fostering trust.
Our Customers
Our platform serves two key customer segments:
Carbon Project Developers: Primarily small and medium-sized businesses across Europe (and beyond) that develop innovative technologies to remove or reduce CO₂ emissions at scale. These companies rely on high-integrity carbon crediting solutions to finance their projects and accelerate deployment.
Carbon Credit Resellers & Buyers: Organizations on the demand side of the market, including brokers, marketplaces, and corporations integrating high-quality carbon credits into their net-zero strategies. These buyers seek transparent, verifiable, and high-impact credits to meet sustainability goals.
Your primary focus will be on carbon project developers, identifying, sourcing, and onboarding them onto our platform. However, understanding the demand side dynamics will be crucial to ensuring our commercial offering aligns with market needs and delivers maximum value to all stakeholders.
Recruitment Process
30-minute introduction call with our CEO, Ludo.
45-minute sales experience discussion with Greg.
1-hour practical case study with Jules and Greg.
45-minute cultural fit conversation with Clem and another team member.
Work Environment & Benefits
Competitive salary, based on location and experience, with a transparent salary grid.
Attractive stock options package.
Great office locations: Lyon, Paris, or Berlin. Remote work is possible, provided you are able to travel to one of our offices within two hours.
Start-up culture: High responsibility, high impact, no micro-management, and a strong emphasis on execution and innovation.
Work-life balance: We support a healthy balance between professional and personal life.
Collaborative team spirit: Join a motivated team driven by a shared mission and aligned with our Riverse values.
Benefits: We cover 50% of your Alan Green Mutuelle and 50% of your Navigo Pass (for public transport in France).
Team retreats: Twice a year, our team gathers for 2-3 day retreats—often in the great outdoors—to recharge, connect, and get inspired!
Diversity, Inclusion & Equity
We are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Inclusion is an ongoing journey, and we aim to create an authentic, welcoming space for all.
We celebrate individuality, embracing people of all nationalities, abilities, family structures, ages, socio-economic backgrounds, civil statuses, sexual orientations, gender identities, ethnic origins, religions, beliefs, and any other qualities that make their life experiences unique.
We are still building our company culture and are keen to have conversations about these important topics!
About Us
To reach Net Zero by 2050, we must drastically cut CO2e emissions and remove 6 to 10 gigatonnes of CO2 annually from the atmosphere. In short, we have less than three decades to scale a nascent industry to the size of the entire oil and gas sector.
At Riverse, we are enabling this transformation by building the leading carbon crediting platform for engineered carbon mitigation projects.
Today, we are a team of 11 passionate individuals from six different nationalities.
In 2024, Riverse became only the 12th carbon crediting organization worldwide to achieve ICROA endorsement, the highest level of accreditation in the voluntary carbon market.
We are backed by leading European venture capital firms and high-profile business angels with entrepreneurial and climate expertise.
