We are a well-funded, early-stage startup on a mission to guide the world's money. Data sits at the center of everything we build, from ingesting financial data, augmenting data through ML & GenAI, to exposing core datasets for financial decision-making. To accelerate this, we are hiring a Software Engineer, Data to shape and scale our data foundation from day zero.

About Palm

At Palm, data is at the foundation of everything we do. We're building a sophisticated application that helps enterprises make smarter financial decisions. You will get the opportunity to build back-end foundations that power embedded analytics dashboards, a ML-powered forecasting engine, and GenAI capabilities. This role is your chance to architect and build out data-heavy back-end capabilities that will help us scale from being a challenger in the market to a leader in the enterprise treasury space.

This role isn’t about maintaining legacy systems, it's about building foundations. You'll work directly with our leadership team to define our data strategy, establish best practices, and create the foundation for our data-driven products.

You'll be working side by side with product, ML engineers, and customer operations, with a clear path to technical leadership as we scale.

How will you make an impact?

• Design foundations that help us build scalable data ingestion using tools like Airflow, Pubsub and Cloud Run on GCP.
• Be at the forefront of using AI assisted workflows, e.g. using coding tools like Cursor and Claude Code, or prepare detailed implementation plans using large-context models like Claude Opus and Gemini 3 Pro.
• Set up and manage data integrations using tools like dltHub to power integrations for various financial data sources.
• Build and manage our data infrastructure through infrastructure as code and support other engineers in their data & infra needs.
• Design a high-performance data warehouse in BigQuery to serve analytics, ML and internal products.
• Drive engineering excellence through version control, CI/CD, testing, and reusable frameworks.

Where we work

Palm is a remote-first company, with team members across multiple locations. We value flexibility and believe the best work often happens outside the office.

That said, this is a core technical role. To build our data platform collaboratively and support each other in a high-growth environment, we'll have regular in-person sessions with the engineering team and founders. We'll work together to determine the right cadence that supports both flexibility and collaboration.

Our wish list

Must-haves

• 3+ years in a data or back-end engineering role with strong data affinity.
• Proficiency in data processing using Python since it powers a significant amount of our data processing.
• Comfortable with leveraging AI-assisted workflows and tools in the development process.
• Track record of building back-end systems that are the back-bone to analytics, ML and GenAI use cases.
• Knows their way around designing data models for row-based databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and columnar based data warehouses (e.g. BigQuery, Clickhouse).
• Expertise in building integrations with third-party API’s or data integrations using tools like dltHub, Fivetran or Airbyte.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred), infrastructure as code, and cloud cost optimisation.
• A startup mindset being scrappy, product-driven and comfortable with ambiguity.
• Strong ownership mentality with the ability to work independently but also collaboratively drive projects to completion.

Nice-to-haves

• Domain knowledge in fintech, financial data, or banking systems.
• Having worked in an infrastructure or DevEx related role such as Data Platform Engineer, DevEx Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer.
• Experience with Go.
• Prior experience in a rapid-growth scale-up/startup environment.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and real-time data processing.
• Contributions to open-source data tools or communities.
