Your work will include:

Platform engineering

  • Build a robust & reliable platform that is easy to develop with, based on developer feedback
  • Integrate Open Source software to fit nicely into our existing stack
  • Develop reusable infrastructure/platform components: CI/CD pipelines, template repositories, helm chart templates

Tech Infrastructure Leadership

  • Help developers establish operating standards for services (via SLIs & SLOs),
  • Advocate for DevOps culture and demonstrate (blameless post-mortems, safety culture)
  • Write great documentation and playbooks

Automation & optimisation

  • Develop automation software to reduce toil and repetitive tasks
  • Write Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform code instead of performing manual changes

Infrastructure maintenance

  • Operate company’s core infrastructure
  • Maintain K8s clusters in good health & perform upgrades
  • Support engineering on operations-focused topics
  • Lead complex migration projects

Requirements

  • Hands-on (3+ years of production operation) with at least one major cloud compute vendor (preferably AWS),
  • Advanced-level proficiency with 3+ years experience in operating high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, distributed software in production: building monitoring into your code, tweaking dashboards, defining alerts, writing runbooks
  • Deep expertise in containers: Docker, and 1+ years operating Kubernetes clusters
  • Advanced-level proficiency with 3+ years of experience in one or more prominent languages such as Python, Ruby, PHP, JavaScript, or Go
  • Familiarity with IaC (infrastructure as code) and configuration management software
  • Experience with developing robust CI/CD pipelines (we use GitHub Actions)
  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal forms, and an ability to communicate complex technical issues to a range of technical and non-technical audiences (management, peers, clients)

Nice to have

  • Product & business oriented mindset
  • Prior platform engineering experience
  • Some DevSec experience
