Orakl Oncology is a techbio company, based in Paris and aiming to transform the fight against cancer. We combine best-in-class biology with data-powered and AI-driven analysis to enable companies to identify and optimise new anti-cancer therapies. We are an interdisciplinary platform working at the intersection of cell biology, engineering and machine learning. Orakl Oncology is a spin-off from the Gustave Roussy Institute, our offices are located in Paris and our lab in le Kremlin-Bicêtre, France.
Orakl Oncology’s lab generates large volumes of unique imaging and molecular data. To maximise the amount of information extracted and to analyse it we are seeking an outstanding engineer and scientist to join Orakl Oncology as our first AI Research Scientist. They will be responsible for building the Orakl Oncology AI strategy and team. As a AI Research Scientist, you will:
Lead the development of analysis pipelines to understand the unique data generated on the Orakl Oncology platform and generate relevant biomedical insights
Take a leading role in the design of the Orakl Oncology data and bioinformatics stack
Be responsible for designing and running the Orakl Oncology computing stack. This can involve participating in the hiring of new engineers if necessary.
Design and execute research programs for Orakl Oncology and for partnerships with academia or the pharmaceutical industry
If successful, the candidate can grow to become the head of the AI operations and research at Orakl Oncology. The position reports directly to our CTO and also needs to work effectively and collaboratively with the teams at Orakl Oncology responsible for lab based work.

Need-to-Haves:

MEng, MSc or PhD degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline
3 years of hands-on experience in leading AI driven research projects
Deep understanding of modern machine learning techniques and the ability to translate this into biological implications for our lab-based team
Experience in pytorch, python and bash
Experience in working with the modern code development toolbox (bonus points if you have DevOps experience)
Exceptional collaboration an communication skills
Proficiency in English

Nice-to-Haves:

Demonstrated expertise in AI, ML or bioengineering, including scientific publications at top ML conferences or high-impact journals
Expertise in image analysis (bonus points for medical image analysis)
Expertise in omics data (WES, RNAseq, scRNAseq etc.)
A genuine interest for the intersection of data, biology and the clinic
