Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst

The FP&A Analyst will play a key role in the financial forecasting, planning, reporting, and operations within the organization. They will provide financial insights that help the decision-making process, and align capital and resource allocation within the company budget and improve daily operations. The analyst will also assist in the preparation of financial models, conduct benchmarking and process analysis, and participate in operations, and daily tasks of COO in a software biotech startup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and update financial models, ensuring high-quality forecasting and analysis.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process and regular financial forecast updates.
- Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses, and capital expenditures.
- Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends, analyzing causes of unexpected variances, and providing comprehensive variance analysis.
- Prepare presentations for the Board of Directors and Senior Management Team.
- Support Senior Management Team.
- Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for senior company leadership.
- Provide analysis of trends and forecasts and recommend actions for optimization.
- Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; study proposed changes in methods and materials.
- Increase productivity by developing automated reporting and forecasting tools.
- Maintain a strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the FP&A function.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Proven experience as an FP&A Analyst, Financial Analyst, or similar role.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and financial modeling.
- Excellent analytical and data gathering skills.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with financial planning software (e.g., Hyperion, SAP, or similar platforms).
- Ability to present financial data using detailed reports and charts.
- Demonstrable strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- CFA/CPA or other financial certifications are a plus.
