Role Overview

We are looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist to develop bioinformatic applications within Platforma. In this role, you will collaborate with bioinformatics colleagues, software engineers, and the UI/UX design team to prototype and implement new functionalities for our platform. By working at the intersection of science and technology, you’ll contribute to expanding the capabilities of Platforma, ensuring it remains at the forefront of bioinformatics software. Your work will directly support the advancement of tools that make biological data analysis more accessible and efficient for researchers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Prototyping new features: Develop early-stage models for platform functionalities focused on omic data analysis and visualization. Leverage your bioinformatics expertise to shape these prototypes and guide their progression to full development.
• UI/UX design: Work closely with the UI/UX design team to contribute to the development of intuitive and user-friendly graphical interfaces for new platform components. Your insights will help ensure that the software remains accessible to biologists while advancing scientific innovation.
• Software development: Develop and implement newly designed software components that expand Platforma’s capabilities. Ensure smooth and efficient integration of new features into the platform, working alongside software engineers to optimize performance, scalability, and usability.
• Testing and quality assurance: Participate in the testing and review of both new and existing functionalities, ensuring high performance, reliability, and alignment with user needs. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues, validate results, and implement refinements as necessary.
• Documentation and reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of bioinformatics methods, algorithms, and feature development. Provide clear, concise reports and updates to internal teams and stakeholders regarding project progress and technical challenges.
• Continuous improvement and innovation: Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in bioinformatics, computational biology, and genomics. Apply this knowledge to continually improve and innovate the Platforma framework, keeping it at the cutting edge of the industry.

Qualifications

• Educational background: Degree in Computer Science and Bioinformatics or related fields (or equivalent experience).
• Proficiency in programming: Solid background in Python and/or R programming for biological data analysis.
• Experience with sequencing data: Expertise in next generation sequencing analysis pipelines, with an understanding of the biology behind the data, especially in multiomics.
• Software engineering skills: Experience in software engineering is ideal, with programming skills in TypeScript and HTML/CSS.
• Capacity for collaborative teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating strong communication skills with team members from diverse scientific and technical backgrounds.
• Adaptability and learning agility: Comfortable with rapid learning and adapting to new technologies and scientific methodologies as the field evolves.
