We are building a bridge between exceptional Ghanaian accounting talent and the US market. Our first cohort of 10 accountants will launch in 2026, growing to 75+ by 2027 and beyond. About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial Managing Director to lead the launch and growth of our inaugural office in Accra, Ghana. This is a rare founding leadership role: you will build the team, establish the culture, shape the infrastructure, and represent Imara Talent in the Ghanaian market. The right candidate is a natural leader with deep roots in the Ghanaian professional community, a strong accounting background, and operational drive to build from the ground up. As we grow, so will your role.
What You Will Do

Recruiting & Team Building
Lead recruitment of the inaugural cohort of 10 accountants in 2026, prioritizing candidates with strong technical skills and professional development potential
Hire and manage administrative support staff to sustain day-to-day operations
Scale the team to 75+ accountants by 2027 and participate in long-range workforce planning

Team Management & Development
Provide direct management, coaching, and mentorship to the accounting team and administrative staff
Foster a culture of excellence, integrity, accountability, and continuous growth
Partner with the US team to design and deliver onboarding, technical training, and professional development
Ensure high levels of work product and quality control across the team to build trust with clients
Monitor team performance and implement feedback mechanisms and career pathways

Partnerships & Community Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with local academic institutions (universities, polytechnics, professional associations) to support talent pipelines
Represent Imara Talent Global at industry events, career fairs, and community forums
Cultivate strategic local partnerships that enhance the company’s reputation and reach in Ghana

Executive Partnership
Serve as the primary liaison between the Ghana office and US executive leadership
Provide regular operational, financial, and people-related reporting to HQ
Act as the face of Imara Talent in Ghana, modeling our values and mission publicly and internally

Office Launch & Operations
Identify, negotiate, and secure suitable office space in Accra, aligned with operational and cultural needs
Procure and manage technology, equipment, and tools required for a remote-capable team
Establish office policies, workflows, and operational standards in coordination with US leadership
What You Have
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
5+ years of professional experience in accounting or finance
3+ years of management experience, ideally in a startup, NGO, or multi-stakeholder environment
Demonstrated experience in recruiting, hiring, and developing professional teams
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
Strong organizational and project management capabilities
Deep familiarity with the Ghanaian professional landscape, culture, and business environment
Preferred
Professional accounting certification (ICAG, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent)
Experience working with or for US-based organizations or in cross-cultural professional settings
Existing network within academic institutions, professional associations, or the accounting sector
Fluency in English; proficiency in other Ghanaian languages an asset
What Success Looks Like
In your first 6 months, you will have;
Secured and set up the Accra office,
Hired the founding team of 10 accountants and essential admin staff, and
Developed onboarding and training frameworks in partnership with US leadership.
By the end of year one, the team will be;
Performing at a high level,
Local partnerships are active, and
The foundation for growth to 75+ accountants is firmly in place.
