Software Engineer (Full-Stack · Robotics Infrastructure)
Zurich, Switzerland · Full-time
The Role
You'll join as an early technical hire. That means real ownership: you'll shape the product, architecture, and engineering culture. You'll ship end-to-end features: operator dashboards, backend services, AI/ML pipelines, and real-time systems, that connect edge devices to cloud intelligence and keep operators in control.
At pre-seed, we need someone who has done this before: you can design, build, ship, and operate production systems with minimal supervision and you enjoy the responsibility that comes with it.
Who We're Looking For
This role is for a builder with rare ambition and low ego. You like owning problems, moving fast, working with new technologies, and raising the quality bar around you.
You care about shipping real-world systems that operate outside the lab, where latency, reliability, and failure modes actually matter.
This is not a junior role. We're looking for someone senior enough to make good architectural calls, ship quickly without creating chaos, and own reliability from day one, because the software will leave the lab and run in the field.
You'll likely thrive here if you…
- Have 5+ years building and operating production systems (or equivalent depth through exceptional work).
- Can build end-to-end: UI → APIs → data → deployment, and you've done it in real products.
- Can ship full-stack (React frontend, Node.js and/or Python backend) with strong engineering judgment.
- Are very comfortable with infrastructure (Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, cloud deployments) and can own it.
- Have built or maintained real-time distributed systems (streaming, queues, networking, WebRTC/WebSockets, etc.).
- Think in reliability: observability, incident response, rollouts, backpressure, retries, and failure handling.
- Take ownership and communicate clearly, especially when things are messy.
Bonus points
- Robotics familiarity (ROS2, autonomy stacks, or fleet tooling).
- A strong aesthetic sense and attention to detail.
- Security-minded engineering (authn/authz, audit logs, threat modeling basics).
- Experience productionizing AI/ML systems (data pipelines, evals, deployment, monitoring).
- Experience with defense, government, or critical infrastructure deployments.
What We Offer
- Exceptionally talented team (ex-Cambridge, UCL, Imperial, TUM, Helsing) with high ambition and low ego.
- You'll shape product and engineering foundations from day one.
- Build systems that strengthen European security, defense readiness, and infrastructure resilience.
- Competitive salary + meaningful equity.
- Best hardware/software for the job.
- In-person in Zurich.
