Khazna has received the Central Bank of Egypt’s first prepaid card license and aims to become the go-to neobank for underbanked consumers across the Middle East. In the next phase of its journey, Khazna is looking to continue scaling up its operations in Egypt and to launch its operations in Saudi Arabia.

About the Role

The Data Engineering Manager is responsible for executing Khazna’s data platform roadmap as co-defined with the CTO. The role ensures the reliable design, build and operation of scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that support product, risk, finance and operational use cases.

This role focuses on data platform setup, delivery excellence, technical leadership, team development and translating strategic direction into high-quality implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Implement data models aligned with product and operational requirements.
• Translate the architectural vision into detailed technical designs.
• Establish engineering standards for data reliability, testing, and monitoring.
• Build and manage a high-performing data engineering team.
• Provide technical coaching and mentorship.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Commercial, and Finance teams to prioritize backlog.
• Implement data access controls and security standards defined by Security and Risk.
• Ensure technical compliance with internal governance policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• 8+ years in data engineering or platform engineering.
• Prior team leadership experience (minimum 1 year of managing direct reports).
• Solid experience in designing and managing scalable data platforms.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably GCP.
• Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining open-source data tools.
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL.
• Demonstrates the ability to assess, compare and select open-source technologies aligned with business requirements, scalability needs and long-term strategy.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills
• Experience in fintech or regulated environments preferred.
