We're hiring a Brand Designer at Gitpod.

Reporting to our Head of Outbound Product Marketing, you'll help make Gitpod's brand exceptional and accelerate our presence in the CDE space. This role is focused on fundamentally enhancing how Gitpod interacts with it’s users and our industry through all mediums.

Who we are

Five years ago, we set out to create a world where every developer is instantly ready-to-code. With over 1.5 million users, we are now the leading platform for standardized and automated development environments. Our ROI calculator demonstrates how we help customers save nearly $1,000,000 annually for every 100 engineers using Gitpod. Developers use Gitpod an average of 36 hours per week, and our enterprise revenue has grown tenfold since last year.

We're a talent-dense group of people who transform how software is created and delivered, working to empower every company, every team, and every individual to succeed in a software-first world. We care deeply, and for many of us, building Gitpod is our life's work.

There hasn't been a better time to join. We've found product-market-fit and are scaling with high intensity towards repeatable go-to-market fit. Our operating values are an authentic representation of how we show up and make decisions. We choose colleagues carefully based on merit and their alignment with those principles. If this excites you, we would love for you to apply so we can connect.

Role responsibilities

Everyone that joins Gitpod is responsible for enhancing it. We hold our operating values as the standard that we drive towards. Joining Gitpod means you have ownership around forming our culture by living out these values.

  • Leverage and iterate upon Gitpod’s design system, ensuring consistency across every channel

  • Create design assets for marketing campaigns across multiple channels including paid, organic, website, white papers, webinars, events, swag, and decks

  • Design assets for internal and external learning, and promoting self-service (i.e. sales enablement, one pagers for partners)

  • Drive the evolution of Gitpod’s visual brand through supporting strategy and executing on it

At the end of your first 30 days, you will have:

  • Gained a deep understanding of our existing design system and provided an assessment of what to keep and how to improve it

  • Completed a review of existing design templates and prioritse a list of new templates to create

  • Completed a review of our existing Figma file system and created a plan for how to improve it where necessary

  • Established strong working relationships with key stakeholders (Product Marketing, Events, Sales, Growth, Alliance) through 1:1s and team sessions, demonstrating a clear understanding of their needs and constraints

  • Established a process to enable other teams in making design requests

  • Established a process for triaging design requests

  • Created a 60-90 day plan based on learnings, focused on hypotheses to test improving lead generation and conversion across marketing website, enabling key stakeholders with visual assets, and generally improving Gitpod’s brand assets.

About you

You work in alignment with our operating values

Our operating values are the DNA of Gitpod. We hold them high, evolve them as we evolve, and integrate them into everything we do. We expect everyone at Gitpod to actively use the values as the playbook for how they show up and work.

You love beauty

Beautiful things inspire you. You’re energised by the idea of being the guardian of Gitpod’s visual identity. You have unwavering commitment to aesthetic excellence, incredibly strong taste, and want any brand you work on to be seen as the gold standard. You have the ability to create visually stunning designs that will mirror the sleekness of Gitpod’s product and character.

You’re a storyteller at heart

Brand design is more than beautiful images. A brand’s identity is made powerful when compelling narratives are threaded throughout your visual elements. You are an expert at translating complex ideas into visual stories. You seek to understand the audience you are creating for, dive deeply into the product and the problems it solves, and produce an end result that thoughtfully connects people to the core of Gitpod.

You never compromise on user experience

Users are the inspiration for the brand. From the animation of a button to the flow of an event space: none of it matters unless our users connect with it. You advocate for users by balancing business goals and technical constraints with what you know deeply resonates with them. You’re in the business of creating pathways to the product, leaving them truly delighted and connected to Gitpod.

Additionally, we're looking for someone with the most of the following experience:

  • Previous work on technical products

  • Ability to draw/illustrate/animate

  • Side projects that show extreme passion about the field of design and their ability to be trend setters

  • Bonus - you have a fine arts background, are a strong illustrator, and/or have experience with animation

Our team uses the following and we expect you to have familiarity with most of them:

  • Figma

  • Illustrator

  • Data/analytics: Segment, Hex, Metabase, Mixpanel, Google Analytics

Benefits

  • Fully remote, flexible work day

  • Flexible paid time off including holidays that are most meaningful to you

  • Wellness allowance

  • Premium work-from-home equipment
