We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our finance team as a Junior Financial Controller. As a Junior Financial Controller, you will be assisting in the financial activities inclusive of all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting of the company, accounts payable/receivable, expense management, financial data entry, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to financial best practices.

Additionally, you will contribute to the disbursement process of funds to clients, ensuring

timely and accurate payments.

The ideal candidate will be an Accounting Professional who has a passion for financial analysis and operational accounting, and who possess a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills and an understanding of international financial reporting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with international financial reporting standards.
  • Contribute towards the process to ensure timely and accurate consolidation and submission of financial statements to C-Suite and Senior management.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for senior management, board meetings, and other stakeholders as required.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic and achievable financial plans.
  • Monitor and report on month-on-month, quarterly, annual and budget variances, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Assisting where required in the development of financial forecasts to support business planning.

Financial Activities and Internal Controls:

  • Assist in the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of the various financial activities of the company.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Contribute towards the regular review and enhancement of control procedures to mitigate financial risks.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.

Financial Analysis:

  • Provide financial insights into business operations, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Contribute to the provision of financial insights to C-Suite and Senior management, highlighting trends, opportunities, and potential risks to support strategic decision-making.

Tax Compliance:

  • Assist in the completion of all tax-related matters, to ensure the timely and accurate filing of tax returns.
  • Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations, implementing necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors as necessary.

Disbursement Processing:

  • Assist in the accurate and timely processing of disbursements, including client disbursements, vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and other financial obligations.
  • Verify the accuracy of invoices, expense reports, and other supporting documents before processing payments.
  • Ensure compliance with payment terms and manage the company’s cash flow effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to obtain necessary approvals and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Reconcile disbursement transactions with general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Audit Coordination:

  • Serve as part of the team for the point of contact for external auditors during annual audits.
  • Contribute towards the audit process, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided and relevant questions are addressed promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a financial accountant or controller.
  • Previous experience in direct SME lending will be beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS and UK GAAP), financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
