Markus Co-Founder | Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹 ”Bastian and I first crossed paths at the Top League program at Business University Vienna (WU). Soon after, we embarked on our first entrepreneurial venture together - a restaurant with a digital ordering system in 2011. We ran this upper-class restaurant in Vienna as co-CEOs for 2.5 years before selling the business just before completing our Bachelor's degrees in 2014.
My journey then took me to N26, where I became the Head of Product in March 2015. One of my first and most significant hires was Hasib, who joined N26 as a senior engineer. Bastian also joined N26 for several months as an Entrepreneur in Residence, working closely with both Hasib and myself.
By early 2022, Bastian and I felt it was time to team up once again to build something impactful. With a shared mission to positively impact 1 billion lives, we created 1BillionLives GmbH. Leveraging Bastian's extensive experience in the medical field, we began exploring ways to simplify the process of bringing medical products to market, particularly focusing on the implications of the Medical Device Regulation (MDR).”

Bastian Co-Founder | Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹 ”Markus and I have been close friends since our university days, which strengthened through our early entrepreneurial ventures and our collaboration at N26, where I also met Hasib.
In early 2022, I decided to join Markus once again to build something impactful. With my professional experience in the medical industry, I was particularly aware of the challenges involved in bringing medical products to market. We asked ourselves, 'How can we simplify this process, especially with the new Medical Device Regulation (MDR)?’
During our discovery phase, over 50 interviews with startups and established companies revealed alarming insights about the adverse effects of medical devices on people’s lives. This reinforced our determination to ensure better compliance and safety in the industry. The lack of effective solutions and MDR changes highlighted the critical need for continuous compliance, a topic that resonated most with customers.
Motivated by these findings, we committed fully to this venture by autumn 2022. We developed prototypes, secured Letters of Intent (LOIs), and assembled a team, including Hasib, who joined us full-time. Shortly after, we incorporated the company and raised €1.8 million in pre-seed funding with Speedinvest and SquareOne, marking the start of our journey to revolutionize MedTech compliance."

Hasib Co-Founder | Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪 "I have been passionate about software engineering since my early days at university. My journey at N26 was transformative, not just because it’s where I met Markus and Bastian, but also because it provided me with the opportunity to grow from an individual contributor to a leader. I built and led a 15-person mobile engineering team, which was a pivotal experience in my career.
N26 also inspired me to pursue my own entrepreneurial path. After leaving the scale-up, I co-founded a co-living startup with a friend. We successfully raised a strong pre-seed round, but unfortunately, our business was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, we managed to sell the company to a much larger competitor with the financial strength to navigate the crisis.
This experience, although challenging, reinforced my desire to co-found a startup again. I spent time consulting and exploring data and AI topics, all while keeping a close eye on what Bastian and Markus were doing. When they had a validated business idea, I knew it was the right time to join forces with them.”
