Your Mission:
Join our team as an outstanding Risk leader, overseeing all aspects of our crypto operational processes, systems and controls underpinning Bitpanda’s business activities with the markets in which we operate. You will be responsible for challenging, controlling, reporting and advising on risks relating to Bitpanda’s crypto products and services, including our custody solutions. You will play a key role in ensuring that Bitpanda’s crypto activities are robust, compliant and continue to evolve in step with the company’s ambitious growth plans.
You will report to the Head of Operational Risk Management and will be a key member of Bitpanda’s growing Group Risk Management Team.
What you’ll do:
- Act as the Crypto Product SME in the Risk Team, leading oversight of crypto product operations covering Wallet Structures, on/off chain transactions and associated Infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Bitpanda’s Crypto Product teams regarding new product and services development, governance, roadmap/planning, and crypto risk assessments in alignment with Bitpanda’s Risk Management Framework.
- Act as the point of contact for Bitpanda’s Crypto, Operations, Infrastructure and Custody teams, helping them identify, treat, monitor, and report all relevant risks.
- Perform control monitoring and oversight (including testing where needed) at planned intervals to assess effective control implementation, and advise risk owners on assessment and treatment of identified risks.
- Coordinate risk and control assessments, oversee relevant events or incidents, participate in audit engagements as needed, and support senior management in aligning crypto risk management and governance with organisational goals.
Who you are:
- 5+ years experience in financial services and financial technology, managing risk and control activities, and possessing strong knowledge of non-financial risk management, related processes, and frameworks.
- An expert in cryptocurrencies, with a deep understanding of how cryptocurrency transactions move between internal Wallet structures (e.g. hot/cold) and across market infrastructures.
- Ideally: Relevant blockchain and crypto certifications from reputable Industry Organisations
- Strong communication, stakeholder management including negotiation and persuasion skills, working seamlessly with cross functional teams including senior management in Business, Operations and TechnologyAbility to understand end-to-end risks and integrate a control framework throughout the organisation, bringing risk-management topics to life and embedding high-output, low-friction practices.
- A self-starter capable of operating in an ever-changing environment, consistently demonstrating leadership and ownership.
